FAQ

Q: Why the video recorder has no image display and the VFD only displays a "Video Quality" frame during startup?

A: Please check the following:

(1) Are the power cable and data cable of the hard disk connected firmly?

(2) Is the master/slave jumper of the hard disk set correctly? Please contact with your vendor immediately, if above items are correct but the video recorder can't start up normally.

Q: After startup, the video recorder keeps on recording, the Alarm indicator lights up, and the Record indicator lights up, but video recording can't be stopped, why?

A: The digital video recorder is not connected to the alarm sensor but was set to open-circuit alarm and has not been reset; as the result, the video recorder deems an alarm exists and thereby keeps on recording. To solve this problem, connect a short-circuit wire to the alarm input to reset alarm; then, the video recorder will stop after the preset recording time.

Q: Why the monitor has no image display?

A: Check as follows:

(1) Check whether the hard disk is mounted correctly, whether the jumper is set in MASTER position;

(2) Power on the video recorder, and check whether there is time display on the VFD; if there is, it indicates the video recorder is in normal state. Next, check other devices (e.g., whether the monitor and the camera are powered on, whether the video is connected correctly, etc.);

Q: Why the video recorder doesn't provide alarm output after it alarms?

A: Enter into "Alarm Recording" menu item from the menu, and check whether the "Arm" is set to "Arm" and whether "Out" is set; if they are normal, observe the display screen to verify the ALA mark at bottom left corner of the VFD screen will lights up and a sound can be heard (indicates the relay device in the machine has closed) when there is alarm input.

Q: Why the scheduled video recording doesn't work?

A:

(1) Check whether the system date and time is the current time;

(2) Enter into "Parameter Settings of Scheduled Recording", and check whether "Enabled" is set to "Y".

Q: How to treat if the buzzer beeps after startup?

A:

(1) The product has a feature that it will alarm automatically in case of video loss. The buzzer beeps to indicate there is no video input.

(2) Observe whether the “Loss” on the left of the VFD screen flashes; if the “Loss” flashes, it indicates there is no video input.

(3) Check whether there is a dialog box that prompts "Disk Full, Overwrite?" for the video content on the monitor; if there is, please choose "OK"; then, enter into the menu, and modify "Overwrite" under the " Recording" menu item to "Y" with "+" and "-" buttons, and then save and exit.

(4) If the buzzer beeps just after startup of the video recorder, please check the video content on the corresponding monitor to see whether there is a prompt "Set to Hard Disk Mode" at top left corner of the video; if there is, enter into "Working Mode Settings" menu item and set the working mode correctly.

(5) If the buzzer beeps just after startup of the video recorder, please check the video content on the corresponding monitor to see whether there is a prompt "Time Error! Please set time." at the top of the monitor; if there is, enter into "Data & Time Settings" menu item and set the date and time correctly.

(6) If the buzzer beeps once the "Record" button is pressed down, please check the monitor corresponding to the video recorder to see whether there is a prompt "Unformatted Hard Disk X" (X may be A, B, C, or D) at the top of the monitor; if you are sure that hard disk X has not been used before, please enter into "Format Hard Disk" menu item and format hard disk X.

Q: Why sometimes the "Search for Video File" function can't find video files in the specified time range?

A: There are two possible cases: when you want to search by time, the "Video File ID" should be set to "0"; there is no video file in the specified time range.

Q: Why all function buttons don't work?

A: A. Reboot the machine; B. Check whether the “ ” signs on the left of the VFD screen light up. If they do, it indicates the keyboard is locked. In that case, reference to the manual and unlock the keyboard with the operator's password. C. For a multi-channel video recorder, please check the VFD to see whether the Pan & Tilt indicator lights up; if it lights up, press the "Pan & Tilt" button to make the indicator go off.

Q: Why the required video file can't be found?

A:

(1) In the list of "Search" menu, check whether there is any video file in the specified time range; if there is, move the cursor to the required menu item, and press "Play" button.

(2) For a 4-channel, 8-channel, or 16-channel video recorder, please choose the correct channel number before you search for video files.

Q: Upon power-on, the VFD only shows a frame and the red indicator above the cover plate is ON all the time.

A: Something is wrong with the HDDs. Check them and the DVR should return to normal after the faulty HDD is removed.

Q: What shall we do if no video can be searched?

A: Perform following operations in this case:

1) Check if Video type is set to All in the Video search menu. If not, use the “+” and “-” keys to change it to All. Then, search again.

2) Enter the list in the Video search menu and check if videos exist in the search time segment. If yes, move the cursor to the relevant entry and play it back directly.

3) For 4/8/16-ch DVRs, select the correct channel before searching for videos.
